Reshef’s University of the People is the end point of an insight which came to him years ago when he owned a for-profit, online education company. He realised that all of the knowledge imparted in a university degree is available for free in the online creative commons. What’s more, all the technology you need to run online courses is open source and a new internet culture exists of people willing to volunteer to teach others.
