A Dundee “elf” is hoping to bring a little winter warmth to those in need with a clothing collection box at the Wellgate.
Sophie Fairweather came up with the idea of collecting hats, scarves, coats and other warm items for the homeless and others in need while travelling on a bus earlier this week.
Within just a few hours of coming up with her idea, bosses at the Wellgate Centre, where Sophie works as an elf at Santa’s Grotto, had given the 19-year-old the go-ahead.
The West End student told the Tele: “I’m so happy — it’s pretty amazing. It’s a good time of year to help and to give back.”
The collection point, in place at the Grotto every weekend from today until Christmas, will accept unwanted new or used coats, hats, scarves and gloves in wearable condition.
