TOPEKA, Kan. – (WIBW) While covering a story with Kansas Highway Patrol’s tweeting Trooper Ben Gardner, we found out he was a fan of actor, Eric Stonestreet. So we had a little fun with Ben, and used Twitter to ask followers to retweet a video where Gardner said he would like Stonestreet to follow him.
It worked, and it netted a Kansas program some big bucks. Later that night, Stonestreet tweeted the video and said, “Done! I better not get speeding tickets on Kansas highways now!!”
He then followed up with, “since we’re besties now @TrooperBenKHP, can I get a ride from the airport when I come in for Xmas? Also, can we use the lights and sirens?”
Originally it started off as a joke. Then, it turned into a mission to help raise seat belt awareness.
Stonestreet tweeted, “Hey @TrooperBenKHP! If u pick me up at MCI when I arrive …
