On Friday at the Mt. Carmel Center of Excellence in Colorado Springs, Shaub received the keys to a free 1994 Mercury Cougar with only 67,000 miles on it. It may not be a big deal to some, but for Daniel, it is a life-changing event. “This is independence. It’s definitely not something to take for granted.” Shaub had been saving for a car after his vehicle died in the middle of a road trip to Phoenix.
The previous owner of his new car was Barbara Stevens. She brought her vehicle into the Phil Long Dealerships and learned about the Mt. Carmel Center of Excellence. Stevens is in a senior living facility, no longer driving and wanted to make a difference in the community with the donation.
