Tens of British Muslims gathered under the Islamic Unity Society’s (IUS) Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign (IHBDC) in London to donate blood, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, IRNA news agency reported.
The event aimed at urging more Muslims to donate blood as a humanitarian move to help those in need of blood transfusion.
The campaign has recently celebrated its tenth anniversary in London and launched an official partnership between the IHBDC and NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT).
“NHSBT needs nearly 200,000 new donors to attend a session to give blood this year,” Asian Image reported in July.
“There is a particular need to attract more younger donors (from 17 years old) and people from South Asian, Arab and black communities,” it added.
