A Denver man who was living in a homeless shelter after he “fell on hard times” has a reason to grin again, after winning $65,833 in a local lottery.
A post to the Colorado Lottery Facebook page earlier this week explained that “Adam H. from Denver fell on hard times recently and was staying at the Denver Rescue Mission” when he was named winner of the Poker Celebration.
Adam was awarded the top prize after buying the winning scratch ticket.
The odds of winning were 1 in 520,000, local broadcaster 9news reports.
Adam said he would use his winnings to move back to Kentucky to be with his daughter and start life afresh.
