A Milwaukee bus driver is being praised after she took in a lost 5-year-old boy wandering the streets by himself in the cold.
Denise Wilson, a driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System, was working a late-night shift in January when she took a break around midnight.
Wilson said she spotted a little boy, wearing summer clothing and no shoes, walking by himself.
The driver said at first couldn’t believe what she was seeing because it was so late at night.
Wilson immediately exited her bus, scooped up the child and carried him onto the vehicle. The heart-warming gesture was captured on the bus’s security camera and was just posted online by the bus company.
“He came out of nowhere,” she told WISN. “I just happened to look over and heard him crying and he was just running up Center (Street).”
