WASHINGTON — With the mother duck nearby, D.C. first responders pulled out eight ducklings from a storm drain in Southwest D.C. on Monday.
In a joint effort between D.C. Fire and EMS, D.C. police, animal control and the Water and Sewer Authority, the rescue of the distressed ducklings took place around 12th Street and Maine Avenue Southwest.
There was an initial attempt to remove the drain cover, but in the end, a net was used to pull the ducklings up.
Finally, the ducklings were released, and they waddled quickly back to their mother.
