For staff at the Manchester Evening News, food was probably the last thing on their minds as they worked long hours to cover the tragedy that hit their hometown.
The Boston Globe’s  thoughtful gesture on Wednesday came as a welcome surprise to the hardworking journalists as the newspaper sent a message of gratitude on Twitter: “The Boston Globe sent us pizza to keep us going. Thanks friends.”
The gesture was widely praised on Twitter as fellow journalists and readers praised staff at the Manchester Evening News for their in-depth reporting, and The Boston Globe for reaching out to them in a show of solidarity amidst the tragic events.
London School of Economics media professor Charlie Beckett tweeted: “This is what really sustains great journalism. Keep up the great work!”
