A seven-year-old girl has raised a staggering £100,000 for the cancer ward that treated her dad – after originally aiming to raise £500.
Elly Neville, from Pembroke Dock, began raising money after her father Lyn Neville, 54, was treated for a rare type of blood cance r at Ward 10 of Withybush Hospital, in Haverfordwest in 2005.
Despite Lyn and his wife Ann, 46, being told they were unlikely to conceive any more children, Ann fell pregnant and in 2010 Elly was born.
The Pembroke Dock Community School pupil’s fundraising began when she won first place at the school’s St David’s Day competition in 2015.
The winning entry featured a collage of the Pembrokeshire flag.
She then decided to raffle the flag to raise funds and awareness for Ward 10.
Since then, Elly’s fundraising campaign has gone from strength to strength and after aiming to raise just £500 originally.
