June 1 (UPI) — Animal care officers in Texas rescued a kitten on Thursday that had been stuck underneath a traffic pole for three days.
The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services shared photos of the tiny, gray tabby kitten that was abandoned at an intersection on Memorial Day and forced to hide under the hollowed-out pole to escape stormy weather in the area.
KSAT reported animal care officer Daniel White worked with a crew from San Antonio’s Transportation and Capital Improvements Department for two days to lure the kitten out from under the pole.
After the kitten was free it was taken to Animal Care Services’ veterinary clinic for treatment.
Staff members at the clinic nicknamed the kitten Floyd because he was stuck at the intersection of Floyd Curl and Medical Drive.
Floyd is gaining weight while Animal Care Services workers find him a foster home.
