June 2 (UPI) — Animal rescue services in Canada helped free a family of deer that had become trapped behind a plaza fence.
Toronto Animal Services and Toronto Wildlife Centre staff worked together to rescue the male and female deer and their newborn fawn from a lot behind a fenced-in enclosure in Scarborough, Ontario on Thursday night.
“The yearling male who had come into contact with a car came out first, cautiously making his way to the ravine,” Toronto Wildlife Centre said in a post to YouTube. “The mother followed closely behind, running the last distance into the trees.”
CP 24 reported the pregnant female and her adult male partner first entered the lot on Tuesday after attempting to escape the path of an oncoming car and were trapped inside when the gate locked behind them.
