My 4-year-old autistic son Jordan loves video games. I took him and his twin sister Sophie to Dave and Buster’s in Braintree one afternoon, but we had to leave after five minutes because he became overwhelmed. Sadly, he and Sophie miss out on a lot because of his disability.
I emailed Michelle Pena, the restaurant’s event coordinator, explaining our situation and asking when the least busy time is at their facility. To my surprise I received an email back that day and was informed that the manager was willing to open early just for our family on June 22.
Not only did we have the place to ourselves, the kids were all given $15 play cards and unlimited play for certain games. The staff there was so welcoming and made sure every one of my family members were having a good time. Jordan was even given a few special surprises.
