The Iraq and US led coalition launched the Raqqa Campaign to drive ISIS and its caliphate out of the IS capital of Raqqa. Complete eradication eventually from Syria and the neighboring countries. The Combined Joint task Force is fighting several battles on multiple fronts against the same enemy. These being the Battles of Bab in Aleppo and Mosul in Iraq; they are ongoing and concurrent with Battle Raqqa. Iraq’s second most populous city fell under the control of ISIS militants in June of 2014.
