A two-person paramedic crew found the pair of distressed dogs around noon Sunday near the top of El Capitan Canyon, an area where crews are continuing work on patrol, mop-up and suppression, according to county Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni.
“The dogs were extremely thirsty, dehydrated and hungry,” Zaniboni said, adding the crew was able to give the animals water, which they readily accepted. “It’s hard to know how long they were up there, but they were obviously in distress.”
The dogs, a German shepherd and Labrador mix, were turned over to county Animal Services and taken to the shelter on Overpass Road in Santa Barbara. On Monday, they had been reunited with their owner just after lunchtime, according to the shelter.
