PLEASANT PRAIRIE — The lives of a bunch of animals and their owners got a special touch Saturday — which also was National Dog Day — as they came out for the second annual pet blessing at Pleasant Prairie United Methodist Church.
Whether it was dogs, cats or even a furry hamster named Nibbles, the four-footed visitors all went home walking a bit taller after they were personally prayed for by the Rev. Anita Lang.
The pastor, still recovering from surgery less than a month ago, insisted that the ceremony not be postponed.
“I had to come,” said Lang. “It’s the best idea to be able to be in touch with others not just inside the church, but also outside the church.”
Animals didn’t have to be at the church to be blessed. Instead, Lang would say a prayer for that “difficult” dog that didn’t like people, or bless someone’s bird via photos because …
