SEATTLE — A barking dog is being credited with alerting sleeping residents to a huge fire burning along the front of their West Seattle apartment building.
The blaze started on the outside of the apartment at 5656 California Ave. SW at about 1 a.m. Friday.
The flames appear to have started on the first floor and moved up to the third floor and the attic of the 3-story apartment building, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
A dog named Kona began barking as the flames began to spread and residents who spotted the flames took it from there.
“We just started pounding on the doors and getting people out,” said Ethan Krulish. “We went half way aroudn the apartment building until the alarms finally started going off. ”
No one was hurt.
