Bill Slayton once posed as a vendor and snuck through a backdoor into a Duke basketball game in graduate school.
The Porter-Gaud English teacher will waltz through the front door of Cameron Indoor Stadium in two weeks for the first time in more than a decade thanks to a surprise Christmas gift from his students.
Slayton’s homeroom class participates in a Secret Santa gift exchange every December. The class presented Slayton, a fervent Blue Devils alumnus, with a stocking this year and, inside of it, two tickets to the Dec. 30 Duke-Florida State basketball game.
