BuzzFeed reports a Washington, D.C. judge tossed out the conviction of a woman facing 12 months in prison, and ordered a new trial. She’d been been found guilty of laughing during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Senate confirmation hearing January 10th. Desiree Fairooz was arrested after she said she involuntarily laughed at a statement by Republican Sen. Richard Shelby. Shelby said that Sessions had a “clear and well-documented” record of “treating all Americans equally under the law.”
Authorities say they have identified the remains of four young men who were killed on a Pennsylvania farm and found buried there in two separate pits. Two men are charged in their killings. (July 14)
