On a typical Monday afternoon, Staff Sergeant Cory Hinkle had no idea what was in store for him. On his drive home from the National Guard base located in Charlotte, Hinkle witnessed a collision directly in front of him.
Hinkle stated, “I saw the cars in front of me just slam into each other and dust and smoke go everywhere.”
Instinct kicked in for the Staff Sergeant as he “didn’t think twice” about running toward the car, even though it was smoking. As he approached the vehicle, Hinkle found a 28 year old named Brandy Guin who was trying to get out but was having trouble due to a broken ankle.
